Hydrostatic Valve Replacement for your Swimming Pool

Aquaglaze recommends all swimming pool owners consider the age of their pool's Hydrostatic valve when their swimming pool first starts to leak. It should be your first line of attack before obtaining expensive pipe pressure testing and leak detection services. In most cases, pool water leaks are caused by old worn out Hydrostatic valve. Hydrostatic valves are relatively inexpensive to replace. In fact the Hydrostatic valve, in your pool, should be replaced every five years to ensure you have a good seal and your swimming pool is not losing water.  Aqualine Pool Resurfacing NSW can replace your Hydrostatic valve whether your pool is full or empty. The Hydrostatic relief valve is located in the deepest part of your swimming pool. It may be under the main drain cover or in its own box situated on the bottom of the swimming pool. The purpose of the Hydrostatic relief valve is to act as a one way valve allowing water into the pool but not out of the pool. It opens when there is an excessive build up of water pressure under your pool This allows the ground water to enter the pool and keep the equilibrium between the pool and underground water to avoid damage to the pool.
Most Main Drain assemblies are designed with the same major components.

  • The Grate and Dress ring sits in the tile or marblite on the floor while the remainder of the Main Drain assembly is cast in to the concrete of the floor.
  • The Dress Ring does not have to touch the body of the main drain.
  • The Main Drain must be installed at the deepest point of the swimming pool so the water is able to drain completely from the swimming pool.
  • The connection to the skimmer allows for a certain amount of water to flow naturally from the bottom of the swimming pool in to the skimmer.
  • The valve stem protrudes into the gravel pit below the structure of the pool so the water can drain into the pool easily.
  • The hydrostatic valve is flitted into the base of the drain to stop water going out but allowing high pressure water in so the pool does not lift out of the ground.

L.E.D. vs Halogen

The Ceramic Light Engine is the latest and most advanced technology in LED pool lighting. The Ceramic Light Engine itself is only slightly larger than a postage stamp with 39 LED clusters, totalling 234 LED's. These LED's are encased in ceramic allowing excellent heat dissipation and maximum light output. A heat sink has been added to the backplate to aid in cooling.
The light output for the Ceramic Light Engine can be compared to two standard surface mounted 100 watt halogen lights, giving a maximum light spread of up to 8-10m at 150-160 deg. With the use of this technology you can be confident or exceptional light output and 50,000 hours plus of burn time, which means you will never have to change a globe ever again.

The Spa Electrics Ceramic Light Engine has a patented driver card. This monitors the incoming voltage which enables it to operate on 12 volts. With this light only drawing 26 watts of power it's not only energy efficient but also cost effective with the ability to run 3 lights on one transformer.

The Ceramic Light Engine creates an ambience like no other light on the market. When turned on underwater it creates an opalescent glow for a "mood" effect, the spread of colour in the pool appears as if a coloured dye has been poured into the water.

Ceramic Light Engine's are available in Blue, Green or White, with the LED's themselves emitting the colour, not the lens. All lights come with a clear lens. Now also colour changing option.

Halogen

Spa Electrics have been manufacturing 12v halogen underwater lights for over 30 years. The globes are produced to the highest quality standards to ensure a long burn life and powerful water penetration with a maximum light spread of up to 8m at 130-150deg. The average lamp life is around 1200 hours.

To maximize the lamp life of your halogen globe your light should be turned on regularly, lack of use can potentially damage the globe and shorten its life.
It is essential that you do not turn a halogen light on out of water. The globe burns white hot and you will cause damage to your light's seal and over a very short time cause the light to melt or deform, when this happens it enables water to enter the light cavity, destroying the light.

Only one halogen light can be used on a 100w transformer. Unlike the Ceramic Light Engine it is not the lamp which emits the colour it is actually the lens. So you will need to choose the lens colour that you would like your pool water colour to be.

* Installation price is based on a pool light replacement and does not include a new transformer.

Why Change to a Salt Water Chlorinator

Pools are there to be enjoyed not to create more work. Here are 6 reason to change to Salt NOW

Phone NOW for a price Click Here

Over recent years Salt Water Chlorination (SWC) has gained more and more favour as a safe, reliable, time saving and economic method of disinfection of your pool water . It is well suited to the treatment of swimming pools. While the capital cost may be a consideration, the significantly lower operating cost, simpler maintenance and high level of safety means salt water chlorinator is the best method of maintaining the chlorine in your pool.

Saltwater chlorination is a process of sanitising water, using chlorine that is produced in the pool water from ordinary salt. Developed in Australia over 30 years ago, the technology is utilised in over 90% of all residential pools in Australia today.
The process occurs via electrolysis, using ordinary salt and a device called asaltwater chlorinator - also referred to as a chlorine generator, salt chlorine generator, or salt chlorinator. Initially, a certain amount of salt is added to the water. As water passes over the chlorinator's specially coated plates, an electric current breaks down the salt and water into their basic elements to formsodium hypochlorite, which is the active sanitizer in all forms of chlorine. The chlorine kills algae and bacteria in the water and oxidizes the waste. Thereafter, the chlorine regenerates itself back to salt and begins the process over again in a virtually unending cycle. Since salt does not evaporate, an occasional addition of salt is needed only to replace what is lost due to the splash out, pumping out, draining or backwashing.

Reason 1 - Bather satisfaction

Our studies show that over 95% of swimmers prefer swimming in salt water pools to any other type of sanitised pools. Salt has a softening effect, just like a water softener, so hair and skin feels soft and silky rather than dry and brittle as with packaged chlorine. The other very important factor is that when the water flows through the electrodes, the chloramines ("dead chlorine" that causes the strong chlorine smell and stinging eyes) are destroyed thus leaving the water in pristine condition.

Salt water pools are popular because most people who consider themselves "sensitive" or "allergic" to chlorine are not actually reacting to the chlorine at all. This problem usually arises from use of packaged pool chemicals due to additives contained in those chemicals. The same swimmers, who claim allergic reactions to chlorine, typically experience no problems when they are in a salt-water pool. The answer isn't the absence of chlorine. Salt systems generate their own chlorine on-site. The answer is the absence of all the packaged chemicals and by-products of those chemicals.

 Reason 2 - Time Saving

Once the Salt Water Chlorinator is running there is no more sanitizing required set and forget. No more running to the pool shop to buy Chlorine and allocating space to store it.

Reason 3 - Economical

Pool Chlorinators significantly reduce you costs by :-
  • Eliminating the cost of Chlorine
  • Reducing the need for pool servicing
  • Reducing the likely hood of the pool water needing emergency treatment due to a slip up in the pool maintenance regime.
  • Costly surface damage or wearing due to chemical damage.

Reason 4 - Safety

A salt-water chlorinator makes chlorine in the pool water, automatically and continuously, so you no longer have to buy, store or handle the dangerous chemical liquid chlorine. Personal injury risks associated with the storage of chlorine are eliminated, as are the other risks of potentially harmful situations where accidental contact with these dangerous chemicals by pool visitors or maintenance staff can occur.

When using salt water chlorination equipment failures no longer represent a life threatening situation or a potential health risk.

Reason 5 - Environmentally friendly

Salt is a safe and naturally occurring element. A salt-water chlorinator recycles the salt over and over so there are no by-product wastes added to the environment. Due to high efficiency of the technologies used, on-site chlorine generation requires a far less energy consumption when compared to the commercial chlorine plants. Reduced handling of chlorine means less environmental damage due to accidental spillage.

Reason 6 - Reduced maintenance

The only maintenance required with salt-water pools, is the ph levels. You no longer will need to test and dose the Chlorine as part of your maintenance schedule.
